It may have been 72 degrees today but all that meant was that there were to be no cold toes today! Today, May 3rd , marked 7 months of ice climbing in the Upper Peninsula- a fact we are very proud of! It all started back in November when a heavy snowstorm dumped 20 plus inches of snow and provided moisture to develop the first climbable ice.

Tucked in the shade along Sand Point Road, Opening Curtains have survived warm temperatures, spring rains, and now 7 months of ascents! Today is bitter sweet as we have to clean our gear and store it away for the warm summer months but, in a short 6 months we will be back at it again and looking to do a lot more climbing in the 2016 season!
