Malcolm Daly is an icon in the outdoor world with 40 years of outdoor industry and nonprofit experience. Known for his affability, sense of humor and to-the-point insight, Malcolm’s wide-ranging business, outdoor sports and non-profit experience provides for a lively, entertaining and educational encounter.

Malcolm is the founder of Great Trango Holdings, Inc. a leading supplier of innovative climbing equipment (Trango) and women’s activewear (Stonewear Designs). Starting the company from scratch in 1991, Daly built it into a multi-million dollar company doing business in 17 countries. During that time he started up two non-profits in the climbing world: the Access Fund, dedicated to retaining access to climbing resources and the Action Committee for Eldorado, a climber’s advocacy and liaison group specific to Eldorado Canyon State Park. Daly was an active board member of the Access Fund for thirteen years.

Malcolm started climbing in 1969 while on a camping trip to the Tetons and has remained active since. In addition, he is an accomplished, Nordic skier, cyclist, fly-fisherman and photographer. Malcolm is still an active rock and ice climber, cyclist, fly-fisherman, photographer and incorrigible gear designer.

Malcolm was a founding board member of No Barriers and Paradox Sports, non-profits that bring human-powered sports to people with physical disabilities. In 2009 he was honored with the Climbing Industry’s Golden Piton Award in Humanity for his work with the disabled. He is still active with Paradox Sports.

In his retirement, Malcolm, with his wife, spend summers managing a remote fly fishing lodge on the Katmai Peninsula in Alaska, works at an outdoor store, is a business consultant, conducts leadership training seminars and has just started a business as a cooking coach.
