Conditions in the Munising area still remain pretty good with some climbs growing and some climbs getting sun baked. This weekend saw the Amphithearter touch down and folks scoring some of the first ascents of the season! The West Shore of Grand Island also saw visiting climbers as there is still lake ice from the public access to the dock on Grand Island and folks have been making the crossing. Please heed this warning- while the ice was good to cross today- it may not be tommorrow. Each climber should check ice conditions with locals or even the sherrifs department before venturing out. Conditions change from day to day so if you are thinking about it- double check first! There was a report yesterday that the lake ice on Trout Bay acutually blew out!
After suffering and climbing with cold temperatures all winter, our weather forecast heading into next weekend is looking warm but cooler at night so spring climbing conditions are here!

Weather and ice conditions can change hourly and what may appear to be “good conditions” to one climber may not be so to another. Please remember that just because a conditions report says that a particular climb is “in”, each individual is ultimately responsible for making his/her own climbing decisions. BEFORE MAKING THE LONG DRIVE UP– please call Down Wind Sports for up to the minute conditions: 906-387-8020
