The Michigan Ice Fest Guides decided to check out the front country climbs this morning and the good news is that this weeks warm weather and rain did not completely destroy the climbs but they certainly did not grow them either. We only found a couple of lines to climb at Opening Curtain as the rest were just to delicate to get on just yet.
The six day forecast looks promising as the temps will be cooling down over the holiday and we are expecting some snow. No pillars are formed yet and any climbs along the lakeshore that is exposed to the sun has most likely come down. No reports if Bridalveil and HMR have survived but we hope to get out there to check them out soon. (EDIT HMR is not in!)
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving from all of the staff of the Michigan Ice Fest!
As always we will be posting the most up to date conditions so please keep checking back. Please be mind full that these formations are extremely delicate and knocking any pillars down at this point may take a month to reform. BEFORE MAKING THE LONG DRIVE UP– please call Down Wind Sports for up to the minute conditions: 906-226-7112
