Rare warmer temperatures greeted climbers this weekend a nice respite from what has been one of the colder early seasons that we can remember.  Its a good thing too.  This past week with the brutally cold conditions, formations were extremly fragile and ice growth had come to a standstill. With a few days of predicted warmer temps it should get the water flowing again and hopefully stabilize the pillars and make them grow!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We checked with the local ice anglers and Munising Bay has about 4 inches of lake ice and several inces of snow covering the ice.  Ice still isn’t stable enough to venture out to Grand Island yet but we are getting closer to that day!  As always we will be posting the most up to date conditions so please keep checking back. The extended forecast is looking pretty darn good for continued ice making!
