Well knock on wood as we are 36 days out from the festival and early season ice could not be better! Lots of reports have been coming in from the backcountry and many of the areas classic pillars are in! Sweet Mother Moses, & The Good, The Bad and The Ugly are in and have been climbed. On a side note, a 22cm Blue ice screw might have been misplaced there. We would like to get it back to the owner if anyone comes across it!
High flow formations like Giddy Up have filled in and are currently climbable and tough to form seeps lke the Ampitheater has finally (barely) touched the ground. There are still no reports of anyone breaking trail out to HMR after this last storm but we can only imagine that is must be in but who will be the one to break that trail in and find out? Where we stand now you can pretty much count on all front country climbs being in and most backcountry as well. The exception might be Dairyland as a party lowered off Friday to check it out and it hadn’t quite touched down yet. We continue to feel blessed with the perfect weather for making incredible climbing conditions!

More good news, the lake ice is starting to form in Munising Bay and is inching out towards Grand Island. How amazing would that be to have Grand Island accessable two year in a row for Ice Fest!
