Ice Conditions Report 1-3-22 Some Good News!

Sweet Mother Moses PC John Miller

Happy New Year!  We finally have some good news regarding ice conditions over in Munising.  After a painfully slow start, recent temperatures have formed quite quickly and most formations are now climbable! Virtually everything in the front country has formed with the exception of  No Boundaries, Sandpoint Falls and Three Sisters. The back country climbs are also in have have seen some early ascents.  Earlier we posted that a crew went out to HMR and found favarable conditions. While they have punched a trail into the climb, snow is in the forecast so be prepared with skis or snowshoes and by all means get an alpine start!

We are getting a lot of inquires on the status of Grand Island. The lake ice is just starting to form. Will it be ready for Ice Fest? That remains to be seen, we will need some cold days and nights to happen and fortunately the forecast looks promising.
