Ice Conditions Report 1-12-26

The School Room 1-12-26

This past week saw warmer than expected temperatures in the Munising area and two days of mixed precepitation putting a high volume of water into the system. This inturn made many of the areas climbs unclimbable. Lots of reports coming in of folks scouting around the front and backcountry looking for climbable ice. The ice that was found that was still climable tended to be lower flow seeps such as The Curtains, Lakeshore Cutains, Widow Maker, and the School Room.

While Munising was disappointing this weekend, anything to the west did not have the rain and many of the climbs in Marquette and the Keweenaw remained climbable.

MARQUETTE CLIMBS

Big thanks to Angela Miller, who for the second time this season busted the trail out to HMR to scout out the conditions. The good news is the trail is open and some of the climbs around HMR are forming but the bad news is HMR has a ways to go! Heres hoping that the forcast will help in creating the classic formation soon!
