Ice Conditions Report 04-03-23

April ice is nice!

Winter is still holding on. We’ve gotten some fresh snow and plenty of cold to keep many of the ice climbs in great shape. Things are looking good for this week, but please use caution and remember that spring conditions can deteriorate quickly.

The backcountry climbs, many of which are exposed to the sun a good part of the day, may be in very different shape than more wooded climbs. Just because the Dryer Hose is in great shape doesn’t mean the same thing can be said for Dairyland. Take this into account before starting any long hike into the backcountry.

As always, check by the store for the most current conditions. This ice season won’t last long, so get those spring swings in before you’re stuck climbing rocks until next winter!

Weather and ice conditions can change hourly and what may appear to be “good conditions” to one climber may not be so to another. Please remember that just because a conditions report says that a particular climb is “in”, each individual is ultimately responsible for making his/her own climbing decisions.
