Eddie Taylor is a climber based in Lafayette, Colorado. Beyond climbing, he is a public school science teacher, track and field coach, and Patagonia ambassador. Growing up in the Midwest, Eddie dreamed of mountains. His passion for snowboarding and trips out West at an early age planted the seed for his love of the outdoors. For much of his life, his focus was on team sports and competition. He competed in the decathlon as part of the University of Colorado track and field team.

Over time, Eddie’s athletic ambitions shifted towards the mountains. From crimping up Madagascar’s 2,000-foot granite big walls to kicking steps up Aconcagua, South America’s tallest mountain, to skiing Denali, and climbing over 70 laps on Eldorado Canyon’s The Naked Edge (5.11c), Eddie’s mountain adventures have been a vehicle for him to explore the world and gain cultural and environmental perspectives.

In 2022, Eddie joined six other climbers on the summit of Mount Everest as part of the Full Circle Expedition. Seven months earlier, he had climbed the Moonlight Buttress, a 5.12+ 1,000-foot sandstone wall in Zion National Park. Recently, he completed a Yosemite link-up, climbing both El Capitan and Half Dome in a single push.

In terms of ice and mixed climbing, Eddie has ticked off several classic routes in Colorado, including Ames Ice Hose, Bridalveil Falls, The Fang, and the Smear of Fear.

His experiences in the mountains and the classroom have taught him the need for change not only in the outdoors but in the world at large. Eddie hopes to share these experiences and create a heritage for his community that will inspire and fuel future generations.
