It’s a common comment that we hear……been there done that, or it’s just too crowded. While its true, if you come to Ice Fest expecting to climb any of the climbs along Sand Point Road, your right, it is too crowded (unless you get up really early that is). Honestly if we were driving 7 hours north to go climbing, Sand Point might be the last place we would go! Putting in a bit of effort to get further out into the park- not only will get you the solitude you seek, but will also get you on ice that honestly might not have seen ascents in years!

There are literally hundreds of climbs in the area- along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Grand Island Recreation Area, as well as several scattered within 5 minutes of the city limits of Munising.
So if you are having trouble locating climbs during Ice Fest, or may want to climb with a small intimate group, be sure to stop by Ice Fest headquarters so we can assist you in your plans to get out and explore more of what the area has to offer!

Something else to consider, The Michigan Ice Fest will be teaming up with the guys at ROAM to provide shuttles into the backcountry. You can catch the shuttle Friday and Saturday along Miners Castle Road!
