With a light rain in the air it did not look good for a climbing outing today but really not wanting the season to end just yet we headed to Munising. Upon arriving the weather had cleared and we were surprised to find wonderful ice conditions! The waterfalls are pretty much out for the season but the seeps are really hanging in there. The ice is defiantly soft and is starting to show signs of deterioration but should be climbable for a few more weeks. If you are jonesing to get on ice, climb in a fleece and no gloves, there is still time!
For folks looking to get to Grand Island the ice fishermen tell us there is still 10 inches of ice in the bay. Today had a layer of slush on top but cold temps all week should provide for a safe crossing next weekend. Anyone interested?
