Sunny skies and a stiff southern breeze greeted climbers in Munising yesterday afternoon. Not to sound like a broken record….but conditions are awesome and fatter then we have seen them for a long time! The ice on Grand Island is in and the ice fishermen are continuing to cross over via Murry Bay. As always use caution and check with the Forrest Service before attempting to cross.
Brian Kaufman and his brother broke trail to the Chapel Beach area for a few freezing nights- their payoff was most likely the first ascent of the season of Spray Falls!

Munising did get some fresh snow but it does seem that the Lakeshore Trail is still packed although some drifting is occurring. If you are heading further out towards Dairyland you just might need some snowshoes – or to put up with a bit of post holeing.

Temps this weekend should be in the upper 20’s so if your looking to get on great ice in moderate temperatures this weekend just might be the perfect weekend!
