As we move into January cold temperatures are beginning to produce lake ice and many ice fishermen have ventured quite a distance out into Munising Bay.  There is still some open water near Grand Island so climbs out there are still inaccessible.  With next weeks temperature remaining cold it is looking really good for another year of climbing ice during Ice Fest!

 

Inland climbs are also solid with all pillars now formed and climbable.  The Lakeshore trail is now packed as far as Sweet Mother Moses with it seeing an ascent this weekend.

 

 

 

The time is now for some spectacular climbing-  come on up to Munising and have some fun….most lines in the backcountry are still awaiting first ascents of the season!
