Established in 1902 by the nation’s leading climbers and conservationists, The American Alpine Club promotes and preserves the climbing way of life. “We provide knowledge and inspiration, conservation and advocacy, and logistical support for the climbing community.”
For years the AAC has been a strong partner at the Michigan Ice Fest and this year is no exception. The club is sending staff to instruct at the AAC Ground School- a series of free classes at the fest.
Remember last year when the Westwood High School built us a people mover for our backcountry classes? Well this year they are building us a boulder that will be housed inside our headquarters where we can do some of the AAC ground school classes!
At Ice Fest you will have an opportunity to learn more about this awesome climbing organization as well as join/renew a membership! The advantage of joining and gaining the benefits of these clubs during Ice Fest is that you will automatically be entered in a raffle in which everyone wins something! You help the club and pick up some gear in the process.
We are proud to say that over the 2018 Michigan Ice Fest weekend we were able to sign up 160 new members to the club (so we know your membership needs to be renewed!) You can join or renew at the clubs booth at headquarters all weekend long! Check out the benefits at their website— American Alpine Club
The raffle will take place Saturday evening at headquarters!
